Buddha View Conservation
Here at Buddha View Dive Centre we care a lot about our ocean and the life that it supports. Diving allows us to come face to face with the incredible marine ecosystems but we must remember our responsibility to preserve and respect these fragile environments.
Join Our Ocean Conservation Community!
At Buddha View Dive Centre, we believe protecting our oceans starts with us understanding our oceans. It starts with us — and with you. Our Conservation Department is building a community, starting a movement of divers, locals and visitors who care about the health of our reefs and coastlines.
Right now, we’re leading ongoing conservation activities such as beach clean ups, CoralWatch surveys (collecting valuable coral health data), And PADI Dive Against Debris ( removing marine debris while contributing to a global database of citizen science). These events happen regularly, so be sure to check our agenda and follow us on social media for the latest updates and opportunities to join.
These activities are open to everyone — whether you’re a seasoned diver, a new snorkeler, or simply someone interested about how the oceans work. We provide guidance and training to ensure that every participant can contribute in a meaningful way while getting the best experience.
How You Can Already Get Involved:

Join our mission to protect our oceans — one dive, one survey, one action at a time.

Community Events
Thanks to our recently opened hostel we host weekly events at the hostel, featuring guest speakers, documentary screenings and land-based coral conservation workshops.
We also organise different events every month for everyone to enjoy an opportunity to get involved and learn more about our oceans, events like:
-
Beach clean ups: Join our beach clean ups! We will sort the different materials and give all the bottle caps to the PlasTao project so they can repurpose them and give them a new life.
-
Dive Against Debris: From our own shore dive - Tanote Bay, you can join our staff in our workshops where we will take debris out of the oceans, sort it out and collect data about it for statistical purposes - there will also be an open forum afterwards where everyone is invited to voice their thoughts about something that concerns us all: our oceans.
Marine Conservation Events

-
Sea Slug Census:
Join us for this citizen science project. The sea slug census initiative will have you exploring the vibrant nudibranchs of Tanote’s shores, after an introduction to nudibranch ecology we’ll photograph species in their natural habitat. We will upload our discoveries to iNaturalist to support global biodiversity records, then share insights and questions in our open debriefing forum.
-
CoralWatch Surveys:
While we launch our own coral conservation project - watch out for news! Join us on this citizen science initiative - CoralWatch. We will be steadily surveying the artificial coral structures - surveying, photographing and identifying the coral so we can do more rigorous surveys of the area, thus making it more useful for the scientific community!
We will conduct briefings introducing the scope of the project and some introductory notions around corals, what they are and what they need to thrive.
Our staff are PADI MSDT that can also teach you the relevant specialties to help you in your journey in conservation. Specialties like Peak Performance Buoyancy or Digital Underwater Photography can help you in advocating for the oceans while making sure we have the minimum impact on these environments.
